Hello,

Checking back in here. Well, my most trouble free Q5 (2010 3.2 Premium Plus, 198,000 miles) has a new problem. The sun shade stopped opening and closing, and has a bunch of fabric that came "unrolled" and is hanging down.

I have an appointment to drop it off on Friday at the dealer for an evaluation.

I did a search on here, and couldn't find anything. I did a google search and found a few threads on Audizine or something like that that talked about replacing, but sounded like headliner, sunroof, and other things needed to be removed.

I may take it by my independent shop for an evaluation to see what they say. Just wondering if anyone else has had to deal with this, and what the cost of repair was? Thank you all in advance.

If you do a search online for VW sunroof shade repair you'll find some info. I've seen DIY repairs for the Jetta Sportwagen and Tiguan that had the same issue.

However mine is stuck half way open/closed, and won't move, with the fabric all over the place. Not sure about removing the sunroof glass and getting it sealed all back in. This job looks a little too complicated for me. I'll see what the dealer quotes me. Also going to get a quote from a local upholstery shop.

I'll keep you up to date.
