Well, it turns out that there are multiple rear harnesses and rear parking aid controllers so I will have to purchase the correct items for my car.

Does anyone know if these cars came from the factory pre-wired for the factory installed parking aid controllers?

Thanks

UPDATE.

I installed the S Line rear bumper this weekend. It is really not a difficult job at all.

The hold up for me was the rear PDC and intergrating the existing Audi accessories rear parking add on system to the new S Line bumper. I had wanted to use the correct sensors but they would not work with the accessory system.

So, I modified the grill insert to a 20mm hole and filed a notch to allow the existing sensors to work with the grill.

I stripped the body color paint off the sensors and gave them a light coat of Wurth black trim paint, perfect match.

The sensors look factory. The PDC works as before.

I had tried to get the original factory PDC control, bumper wiring harness and sensors but were not able to use them due to no wiring harness set up for these items in the rear well as per the factory, no connectors to hook up to.

I contacted Bill at http://genuineaudiparts.com/partloca...?siteid=214407 at Audi San Diego and he was most helpful as well as understanding. He was willing to go out of his way to help get this mod done. I highly recommend them!

Other than the bumper, valance (spoiler) S line bumper brackets and grill insert you must have new rear inner fender liners to complete the job.

The whole job took two hours of working slow and methodically.

I am very pleased with the results and the S Line rear bumper just makes the car.

I had purchased the bumper OEM Plus and was not impressed with the way the items were packed. There were several scratches on the valance and bumper. Not to mention that I ordered the bumper pre-painted ($600) and it was shipped in primer. I am still awaiting a credit for the paint. I had my local guy spray the bumper for $300 so there was a little savings.

If you want the bolder look of the S Line rear then I say go for it, it is really a 2 man DYI job.

Some pics.

Hello Mike!

The result are great! Congrats!

I want to do the same to mine. I have the standard rear bumper with the oem factory PDC.
Apart fro the new sensors, I will need the new rear inner fender liners? Do you have the part numbers?

ThunderDent,

Thanks for your reply.

Make a resume. I will need:

- S-line rear bumper (bought)
- 4 Sensors (4H0919275A)
- Wheelhouse liner w/S-line pkg Right: 8R0 810 172C
- Wheelhouse liner w/S-line pkg Left: 8R0 810 171C

Anything else?

MikesQ5,
You only changed your rear bumper, right?
Can you post a side photo of your Q5 to I see how the rear S-line bumper match it the standard sides. Thanks in advance!

You will also need the R & L bumper support brackets. I'll post a side shot pic.
