Default S-Line Roof Racks

Why didn't Audi paint these black to match the black lines of the S-line trim? I'm thinking of getting mine powder coated to match!

If I'm not mistaken (and I hope I'm not considering I take delivery of my TDI S-Line+ in April), the roof rails SHOULD be black like the remainder of the trim in that package.

I believe the OP was referring to the cross bars that attach to the roof rack rails. The rails are matte black on my 2014 Q5 TDI Prestige/S-line.

I was thinking the same thing about having the cross bars powdercoated, in matte black.

Not exist black cross bars (reason why - unknown)

There are a black roof rails, but it is an additional option package: Black styling pack or separately Roof rails black
It depends on the market and dealers

Another option is to use a different crossbar set entirely. I have Yakima ski holders, bike forkmounts, a Kayak saddle, white water boat carrier (stacker), a Thule cargo box (which may or may not fit with the Audi crossbars), bike wheel holders and all sorts of odds and ends from my previous car (Outback). Round bars are nice in that ski holders can be laid down flat when not in use. Yakima recommends the 48" round bars for the Q5, but going to 58" or even 66" should be just fine given the width of the cars sans mirrors is 74". Oversize bars makes it easy to mount a bike on the outside of the rails, or have a ski holder straddle the tower. Makes loading and unloading vastly easier, although obviously anything heavy like a cargo box or kayak needs to be centered. My previous bars were about 6" oversize on each side and I could fit four road bikes up top easily.

I've been tempted to plastidip my roof rails with the Anthracite plastidip.. it's a dead-on match for the s-line plus peelers..
