HPFP pipes SAFETY ISSUE
It seems that my Q5 will blow up when the fuel leak occurs. I think item newer part is 8T0201215Q (fuel hose feed), depending on the Q5 engine code.
The plastic fuel pipe is touching the HPFP connector which has melted, due to heat, the pipe walls external protector and distorted the shape and thickness of internal fuel pipe wall. (Zoomable photo)
What is the risk (in percentage terms) my vehicle will blow up if leak occurs???
This part was revised and Audi thought that this older part does not pose a safety risk issue????
what if I did not move the hose to check?? Anyhow since I am very concerned that this is a safety issue I have made this photo public. Check if you have the newer or the older part. Newer has a spacer on the melted point.
I guess this is my first TPI.

Since Jimmy the Greek died, it has been hard to get odds on anything. Which leaves you three concerns. Or four.
After confirming that those lines are original equipment, or at least, have not been moved by a prior owner's repairs, etc:
Contact Audi, advise them of a fire danger and ask for repair recompense.
Contact your national safety authority (you have one?) with the same information.
Replace the melty parts, or add a spacer if you feel the damage is not a concern at this time.
Check your high pressure fuel pump. If the wiring has indeed overheated, it is possible that the fuel pump is drawing too much current and that has overheated the wiring bundle. Which would indicate a HPFP failure to come at an inconvenient future time.

Thanks. Will call or send them an email to see how they will react on a repair recompense.
I think it is obvious from the revised part (photo) that the problem is known to Audi but they did not act upon it. Dont think it is so much from the HPFP connector direct heat but rather from the engine radiant/convection/transfer heat. My part is original Audi part. Will try to see who I have to speak to at national safety authority.

Missed spacer?
Please see below, mine is a 2009 2.0T as well, always serviced at the delaer. I think that you either missed the spacer or I’ve got the revised part.

Good to know that not all 2009 Q5s are affected. This makes me feel more relaxed that there are not many Q5 2009 owners affected. My fuel pipe does not have the two lines left and right of the spacer which means mine came without the spacer, probably an earlier model (5/2009), or your Q5 fuel line was replaced, by Audi service at some point in time.
Hope Audi does take responsibility and replaces my faulty part. Hope if more vehicles exist with the faulty design, letters will be sent to all affected Q5 owners.

I’ll check the part number tomorrow morning before my commute.

I could only find the date this part was produced. 46 week of 2008.

Audi responded immediately and positively. It is a safety issue and they adviced I should not drive the car until part is changed to the revised one. Meanwhile they rotated clockwise the fuel pipe so it does not touch the connector, previously they took photos for evidence. When part will be in stock in a week time, they will replace the fuel feed pipe.
My Q5 was registered in April not May, according to Audi documents signed today.
Thanks for your replies

It seems like I’ve got a revised part as manufacture date is newer than my car:
