I will consider trading in my 2017 Audi SQ5 for a 2019 or newer SQ5 when Audi does the following 3 things! First get rid of the fake dual exhaust inlets and replace them with real dual exhaust or at least open up the inlets and have the exhaust directed through the inlets instead of down under the bumper. THIS IS CURRENTLY A DEAL BREAKER FOR MYSELF! Second offer the Black Optics Package that is on my 2017 SQ5 as to much chrome and aluminum on the 2018 model. Third offer some different wheel choices as I am not a fan of the current 2018 wheels! I like the overall style of the 2018 New Generation just think it is missing these 3 things. What do you guys think?

I agree with you on that. I have a 2016 SQ5 in Daytona Grey Pearl, with Black Optics Pkg and also the 21" wheels with red brake calipers. My first Audi and love it. Love the chrome exhaust tips as well. The other pet peeve I have with the new gen SQ5 is the "leatherette" option for the door arm rests and center console when on the Gen 1 models, the extended leather pkg had real leather on the door arm rests, center arm rest and even the top of the dash over the instrument panel. The only other thing I'd like to see changed is the iPad like screen on the dash. Would be nice if it disappeared inside the dash like on the A3 models as well as other Audi models. Just my two cents worth.

The fake exhausts are a deal breaker for me. I also think Gen 1 had much better brakes. I'll just have to wait for the RSQ5.

I always liked my 2014 SQ5. Now, after I got APR stage II installed, I love it. Would not trade it in at all right now. Also, mine is a total sleeper without any of the look improving packages. Just the way I like it

What's this about downgraded brakes on newer models...can you verify that?
This is the first I've heard it mentioned...I love the brakes on my MY2014 SQ5; but wouldn't like a step down if I got a newer model!

I wonder if the downward exhaust is some sort of new EU noise regulation issue? or they are using freer flowing exhaust and pointing them down again, reduces sound level below to allowed limit. I agree, it looks stupid. Why bother at all, it's insulting. Way worse than fake inlets in front. My Honda Civic doesn't try to pretend. Dual exhaust, no tips, not integrated in the bumper, slightly slash cut downward.... and just there. It's not that hard.
Ironically, My Civic makes almost exactly, 1/2 the power at the SQ5... but literally used 1/2 the fuel and costs about <1/3 the price. Funny how it balances out that way. Gives up about 1.5s 0-60 though. Our TDI is way more fun to drive for sure.

rotor size unfortunately has no affect on brake performance though - only on bias. Swept area is what matters, as well as piston size/spread

+1. Rotor width, pad size, compound and caliper design matter more. Diameter just increases overall surface area a little and you need less pressure for the same force/ braking torque applied and you can fit larger pads easier. Larger diameter may cool off better as the larger diameter the vented rotor is, the more air it moves at speed with the same internal fin count and width.
