Default Valentine 1

I'm thinking of hard wiring my V1 radar detector in my '14 SQ5.

Anybody done this?

Any wiring suggestions...before I make a stupid mistake!!

Thanks much,

Jason

Do yourself a big favor and buy a SAVVY. It connects to the diagnostics port above the dead pedal and has a wheel selector to select vehicle speed at which the audible alert is muted. Mine are set for 30mph. It supplies the power and ground for your V1 so all you have to do is run the modular ribbon cable up the A pillar to your V1.

See preceding reply. He named then explained it. Or, go to Valentine's website. What I just used on recent S8, instead of the "old way" patching in somewhere like I did on Q5. Easier install, as well as removal if/when you sell it. The mute function is also helpful for the low speed annoyance stuff. Only contra is if you run the P3 gauge set up that also uses OBDII port; then you would have to use a splitter kludge to do both. At that point hard wiring may again be more practical.

Default get BOB too...

I had some issues with the V1 restarting during the automatic stop/start cycles if they were too long, the brown out booster and Savvy are a great combo.
