Default Keep the outside mirrors FROM folding?

I didn't get a chance to check the manual but perhaps someone here can answer my question...Is there any way to keep the outside mirrors on my Q5 from folding when parking and locking the car? I know they will stay in place if you don't lock the car, but is there is setting to keep them extended even after locking the car? Case in point...we just had a nasty rain/ice event here on Long Island and I had the Q5 in my driveway, but with the way the mirrors fold and point upwards I had severe icing of the entire mirror which even the heated mirror would not melt it all. The ice built up a very thick ring around the mirror to prevent the mirror glass from moving and even had a very hard time unfolding the mirrors with all the ice on the exterior of the mirror. This is a case of leaving the mirrors in place would have been much better than the folding ones. I don't have the car right here now but maybe in the car settings menu there might be an option? Any comments? Thanks!

Yes, it's there in the Car menu (Vehicle settings, under one of the categories, it's easy enough to find).

I thought the fold or not fold was controlled by the location of the **** that is used for mirror adjustment.

No that is the turn down feature of the mirrors so you can see the curbs. The fold is tucked in the car settings.

Hi,

I have not gotten into any settings, but on my 2014 Q5, you need to manually turn that mirror adjustment **** to fold the mirrors. My Q5 does not have- nor did my 2009 Q5 have mirrors that folded automatically. Is the OP's a 2015 Q5?

Bob, our 2015 Q5 does have a setting in the MMI to control the movement of the mirrors when parking.

While there is a manual way to fold the mirrors, you do have a setting to automatically do so when locking the car. I can't say whether pre-facelift vehicles had the option (I would expect so), but post-facelift definitely does.

From what I remember it is in the MMI menu under central locking. I set them to not fold up whenever I go to the car wash, then return them to the folding option once all the water has dissipated.

Keep in mind, some things change model year to model year, trim level to level and MMI version to version. And some features may be different/missing from North American region vehicles found in ROW.
