Lock car with AC running?
Does anyone know if it's possible to lock a 2014 Q5 with the engine running? Sometimes I need to run into a gas station or Rest Area restroom and on a really hot day I want to leave my dog in the car with the AC running
for a few minutes. We used to be able to do this with our Volvos using two sets of keys and it was very helpful when traveling. Thanks for any help.

I have been locking my running/heating/cooling Q5 this way for 5 years especially during the winters. The only downside is if anyone wants your Q5 all they need to do is smash the side window, unlock the door, and drive away.

Bob I'm not going to worry about that aspect. My dog's a big wussy but he gets the whole territory thing.and any strange arm coming through the window is going to be mauled.Better than a beeping horn.

I don't think you even need the key. Pressing the LOCK button on the inside of the car door might also do it, since that also can be used to lock the doors after you have gotten in and started the car.

I'm almost afraid to try. i.e., does it only not work on the driver's door? Supposedly I can lock them all after I get in and start, for security. But, does that depend on whether the "autolock after 15mph" has been engaged? Or, will it lock, but then unlock when the door is cycled, or just closed?
So much simpler with a cheap 30 year old third party security system...
Maybe this weekend, I'll roll down the windows, just in case, and bash around with that.
