Don't have advanced key, but this should work. Separate the physical key from the FOB. Leave FOB in car running. Exit car, stick physical key in door lock and lock doors.

Reenter using physical key. I do this for cold winter startups.

I do this too -- it works. I have the Advance Key and you can take the fob with you, don't have to leave it in the car. Also when you manually lock with the key, the fob or touch sensor will not open the vehicle until it has been unlocked again manually.

Brilliant! Thank you, I'll try that!

have you thought of just cracking a window open for the dogs? not in a literal sense of course.

Is it possible to get a spare key from a locksmith?

If you look at key, it is milled. Probably there are some locksmiths who can do, otherwise go to Audi.

The keys are absurdly expensive, though. I'll just use the hard key in the key fob. Forgot that was there & it's a simple & easy thing to do.

It is impossible to do.
If someone makes a copy you can not use it because of the Audi system protection

What about that lousy plastic "emergency" key that they give you. does it actually have a chip in it? It works to open/close the doors as well as start the car...
