long warm up times

I have close to 1800 miles now and my Q takes a while to warm up... close to two miles does it get to normal temp so during that time I drive like a snail. The outside temp is only around 70 degrees and I can imagine getting worse when it gets colder. Is this normal? Anybody else have the same experience?

Thats normal, Audi's 3.2L engine take a while to warm up and also takes a while to cool down for whatever reason.

That's good to hear. Thanks.

my Q5 warmup times for a cold engine are 2 minutes (irrespective of whether its 70F or more recently 40F). then, the rev's come down to ~750 rpm and I drive off.

How long does it take for your temperature gauge to reach normal operating temperature? Usually about a mile or 2.

Same here... about a mile or 2.

I am really bad about just driving and going in my current car. I will have to baby the new Audi I think. However, I have about 1.5 mile of residential road with a posted speed limit of 30 MPH before I hit highway and need to go faster. I think I would be safe driving even slightly cold at 30 MPH or under so long as I accelerated slowly?
