Default minimum front rotor thickness

Does anyone know the factory specified minimum front brake rotor thickness for a 2012 Q5?

Our dealer put on new rotors along with pads at 44,000 kilometers and I feel it may have been unneccessary. Rotors that came out measured 28 mm thickness exactly.

Thanks

Dennis

Thanks.

Crazy that the factory should spec new rotors with so little wear. I guess it is a make work program for the dealers.

My 2012 Audi Q5 just turned over 45K miles. And I need front rotors and pads again. The told they measured at 4mm not within spec. This will be my second time replacing my front rotors & pads.

Default 4mm presumably are pads; no info here on rotor wear to spec.

It's worth asking for the specific rotor thickness. If it is currently under min. spec., then of course replace it. But apparently some places stretch things by extrapolating that by the next expected change the rotor will have fallen (as in future tense) under the minimum spec. I personally don't change rotors on that basis, and only would if it's current wear was already very close to the minimum already. But you have to pin them down on the real measurements to have the data to judge for yourself.

You are correct 4mm are for the pads. I will get a more specific wear number for the rotors. At any rate I am going to really tell the lady to take it easy with brakes. These pads & rotors sure do wear out fast.
