My 2012 Q5 just got rear ended!! Need advice!!

I need body shop recommendations for the repair of our 2012 Q5. Southern California Repair facilitys. Los Angeles or Inland Empire areas. Thank you.

I'd recommend trying the local forums rather than model forums for local shops. Pics? Someone could probably tell you how much the damage will be ballparked at

Not that i live anywhere near you....

I have Allstate ins, they (strangely) own the Sterling auto body chain. Which means they are really paying themselves. Anyway, I went with them once because they have a lot of money and have all the new gear, pick-up delivery etc... They misaligned panels, left old adhesive, left my windows and camera unhooked, forgot clearcoat etc. Had my vehicle for 2 weeks before even ordering parts b/c they were too backed up but said they would get right at it.

Anyway....Took it to the dealer after to have those problem fixed and was happy. Live and learn.

Not sure if that helps you but I will only go to an Audi dealer or shop that services like vehicle, especially for body work.

Good luck buddy

Mine was rear ended about 6 months ago. In Oregon there was only one body shop that Audi had authorized/certified for collision repair. Made my decision easy. My dealer recommended it. They did a pretty good job. I would recommend going with a audi certified shop.

Find a shop that regularly work on pricier cars like Bentleys, Roll Royces, Lambos and such. The shop's experience, toolsets and their level of detail will be drastically different from your regular collision shops.

I don't trust the dealers, not even Audi NA recommended shops, I've been down that road and never again. Do your homework and tour the shops before handing your car over.

Not sure if it's too far for you, but Craftsman Auto Body, in Cerritos/Long beach is terrific.

I'll vouch for their professionalism, and fantastic work. Our G37 was repaired there, after suffering a damaged left side door and front quarter panel. It's been almost three-years since the work was done, and it is still flawless. It's impossible to tell the car was ever damaged, and I know exactly what was repaired / replaced, and I still can't see any signs.

I had a minor accident in the bumper and my dealer suggested me to take it to DC Autocraft in Burbank, and they are an authorized repair center.

mine looked like this and the bill was 6.5k, had to replace the entire exhaust system too as it had multiple kinks.
I second the tour of the shop. Although the tour of Sterlings shop was awesome, clean, so well laid out, organized, professionally dressed techs who were well groomed, removed parts well protected and stored...... but the operation was a complete gong show. So who the @uck knows what goes on after you leave your car

Do you have any pictures yet of the damage?

are you impressed with how well the car took the impact? My A5 was hit by a motorcycle in the back and the structure behind the bumper cover wasn't harmed. He on the other hand cracked the frame on his bike as well as broke some bones.

I often think the cars are overpriced but they are so solidly built. I am thoroughly impressed. Had it been my Toyota demonstrator from work, the bumper would have been on the ground and the trunk might not open. Nothing was out of alignment on the Audi.

I was (based on my wife's recount) impressed with the outcome. She said the other car made her's leave skid marks over a car length and the other car (bravada?) lost it's bumper, buckled hood, radiator and trans cooler and both headlights i believe. The nose must have been diving while braking. Out hatch still worked. Mine too was cosmetic except for the exhaust
