Hi,

Winter is coming.

Bought a set of 4 rims from PMCTire.com. Wheels are the AD86 Anthracite model from RWC Wheels in Montreal, Quebec but are made in PRC.

It only took my favourite local KalTire store (in Cambridge, Ontario) 2 days to get order them in. They have a $100 discount (set of 4) going on now.

Full specs.

Designed for std Audi center cap.

Profile

Direct view with Q5 non-Sline wheel gap :-(

The 18's look tiny with 60 series tires.

Yes Honey, we really need new winter wheels - we can't use the old ones from the A4.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 SUV - in 235/60R18.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 SUV - the label.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 SUV - on stock Progressive rims for my 2016 Q5 3.0.

I bought a set of wheels from the same outfit last year and really like them. You will be pleased. Went with blizzaks and did the job just fine. Still look great after one Winter. Enjoy.

Looks good.

I'm thinking of getting a set of these for the wife's winter tires. On sale on Tirerack for $185 per. Can get 2 paid for through the dealer on the Audi TDI Dealer Card and the other 2 on the Audi TDI VISA.

Where I live (Ontario, Canada), personally, I would avoid machined faces for winter wheels due to all the salt used on the roads here. But I like most 5 and 10 spoke wheels - the Axis Sports you are thinking of look great. Those wheels are 8.5" wide too - nice. This is my first time buying wheels from a Canadian supplier and not Tirerack - due to the US/CAD exchange rate it made sense.

You know, we don't salt like you have to, but we do salt and I never even thought of that.

I guess the only saving grace is they are inexpensive. I actually like the looks a tad better than her stock S-line 20s.

Good advice, thanks.

my summer wheels are 20"

my winter wheels are 18". i wanted 5 spoke so that snow does not stick in and can fall off easy

No pics, but I bought cheap Al wheels from Tirerack with the Nokian Hakka R2's for our Q5 last year. Other than sheer ice, you could be pretty stupid. It was liek a snomobile. Loved the slight rear bias when pulling out.

My wife is working from home this year, so guess who gets her car on really snowy days.

And, after my master plan to get winter wheels/tires, I ran across a deal on some Nitto 421Qs today in the stock 255/45/20 size I couldn't turn down. Looks like I'm back in all season land again . . . though these are pretty nice performing tires too.

Truthfully, for the wife, it's probably a better decision. She doesn't begin to appreciate the difference ultra HP summer tread does and "normally" winters here are not severe enough to "require" winter tires. It would still be easier on the S-line wheels to keep them for summer only but I couldn't pass up $170 per "through the dealer" on the 2 TDI scandal cards. Of course, they wanted an outrageous $150 to M&B 4 tires but had just enough room on the dealer card to cover that too.
