Default New Audi SQ5 owner looking for info on MMI Versions.

Mods: If this is in the wrong place please let me know where it should go. I posted similar in Telematics discussion.

I just got a new-to-me 2015 SQ5 from my local audi dealer. I was hoping they would update the system to the latest versions of the maps and firmware for the MMI/Nav system. Can anyone tell me if I have the latest versions of either?

From my research in different places it appears to me that I have the as shipped MMI version but I can't tell if theres an available update for it. The large Wikipedia tables offer version numbers but I don't know which one goes to which MMI and which ones are the newest updates.

I'm pretty sure there is an available Map update but I know I would have to pay for that. Mostly I'd like to update the MMI to the latest version if it has any bug fixes/performance-usability improvements/added features.

Thanks!

You have what came from the factory. The P in the version number is the giveaway. P is factory installed and K is dealer update. The map looks like 2015 as well. I got my MMI replaced with a 2015 version and without double-checking I believe that's the map version I have as well and it had the P0733 firmware.

However, I got the firmware updated several times since version P0733. Last update was a few months ago to K0942_3. I believe that's still the latest available update. Haven't heard of anything newer. I think there is a newer factory version, though. I believe the current 2017 models ship with an even newer version, but I haven't heard of a newer available dealer update.

The updates mostly fix bugs, improve performance and Bluetooth compatibility. P0733 was pretty good, but they did improve performance in K0814 and K0942_3.

I have 2 weeks on my new from the dealer 2017 Q5 and the MMI version is P0942. I'm very disappointed that there's not messaging connection. Is this the sort of thing that might be available with a future firmware update?

Don't you have Apple CarPlay with your 2017?

Not an Apple user, I'm an Android man.

Unlikely. The all-new 2018 Q5 will have updated tech.

The all-new 2018 Q5 will have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The 2017 Q5 tech is 4 years old now.

Silly me to assume my new Audi would have at least the capabilities of a Ford Focus. I should have asked the questions rather than assuming this car would be able to do what about every other car made in the last 5 years can do. I really didn't want to wait another year for the new model and like everything else about the car so this wouldn't be a deal breaker, just disappointing. I'm hoping there's some kind of retro that can be done.

Yeah, the Q5 is a 10 year old platform. It received a minor update in 2013, but it's essentially still a 10 year old platform. Comparing it to anything that came out in the last 5 years is Apples to Oranges.

Understood. The dealer told me there was a new version in 18 but looking at the pictures it didn't seem to be that major of an overhaul. Didn't think about the electronics. Thanks for the info.
