Default Not a good day for the Q : (

First the windshield cracked while washing the car. There was a chip I never noticed and the crack spread like crazy. It was not fun standing there watching it go lol

Then while cleaning the inside I somehow managed to peel of some letters from the push button start. Not that big of a deal but still bugs me a little cause how it looks.

just had to vent a little. lol

A friend of mine with an A5 had his start/stop button replaced under warranty for the same issue. Might be worth a try.

Thanks for the responses!! I will be going to the dealer on Thursday to get the windshield replaced and I will definitely give my insurance company a call and see what they say (Thanks Coolieman1220) and I will ask my service advisor and see if they can do something about the push button start (Thanks Regina).

Definitely call your insurance agent first to make sure there are no restrictions on the replacement. Some require you go to specific services like Safelite to keep the costs under control. Dealer windshields can be unbelievably expensive.

Our dealer in Sac quoted $860 for glass and labor. Our insurance has a $500 deductable. Not a cheap fix.

Safelite does a great job and they come to you, plus they will work with your insurance company. Doesn't get any easier than that.

Yikes! $500 deductible on a Comprehensive claim??? That's nuts. Are you sure they weren't trying to make it a collision claim?

I just had my button replaced yesterday under warranty for that same reason. The loaner A4 was missing pieces as well. That button should be laminated with mylar or something...

CA doesn't have any type of car inspection so it doesn't matter if it's cracked. Our Lexus had a stress crack and they refused to replace it and it was going to cost $1000 to fix w insurance picking up the rest. Moved to MA four months later and paid nothing.
