I wondered about the button life. It looks to be a screened application and I remember that the one in the demo I test-drove looked terrible: portions of the finish flaked off. It was a 2010 model so I chalked it up to really rough treatment. I'm glad I am hearing about warranty coverage on this as I would think it is arguable as a wear & tear item.

I've been treating mine like a contact lens...

Mine was about $700 parts & labor. Still, not cheap.

My start button peeled up as well. It appears the "faux chrome" laminate separated from the button pointing up and actually stabbed my finger!
Stealer has a new one on order now, we will arm wrestle on the warranty for it....

Replaced my start button myself today, not too bad a project. I followed the instructions and pics here http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...nsole%20remove
to pop off the top of the console to unplug and pop out the start button. It took the most time to figure out how Audi holds its plugs in on the bottom of the button. pressing in on the tab with a baby screwdriver did the trick.
New button looks better than the flaking chrome of the old one, I hope this new one lasts more than a year.....
