I'm taking delivery of my US Spec Q5 in the UK. I ordered the front plate holder for a US Spec plate so I know that only a US size plate will fit the front. I am curious about the back plates though. Will European or US Spec fit? Is the trunk(boot) stamped out differently for the US and Euro spec Q5s??

US Q5 has a black plastic plate where the license plate goes. A euro plate will fit but may look odd. Not sure if you can change that since the holes for the US plates are there too and they would be visible above and below a euro plate.

You can fit a Euro plate on the front fine. I attached some foam as a spacer on the back of the plate and to keep if from scratching the bumper. Rear comes with a stateside plastic bracket but can also hold a Euro plate.

Here in Germany, you can get a plate that is close to US spec if necessary. I managed to get a standard German plate (same size as the UK) onto my US spec front mount. I could go to the local Audi dealer and get a German spec holder for around 70euro but why worry? The wide European plate fits on the back just fine except you'll see the pad for the US style plate sticking out from underneath it.
