Park aid module compatibility?

Hi team,

I have a potentially faulty park aid module, part 8K0 919 475 J. There are apparently many variants of this module, such as:
8K0 919 475 H
8K0 919 475 Q
8K0 919 475 T
8K0 919 475 P
and so forth. I'm wondering which, if any, I can substitute for my current J model without losing any functionality. I found this chart for A4 sensors:

4F0 910 283 - 4 sensors, no graphical support
4F0 910 283 A - 4 sensors, no graphical support
4F0 910 283 B - 4 sensors, graphical support
4F0 910 283 C - 8 sensors, graphical support
4F0 910 283 D - 4 sensors, graphical support
4F0 910 283 E - 8 sensors, graphical support, rear view camera support
4F0 910 283 F - 4 sensors, graphical support, rear view camera support
4F0 910 283 G - 8 sensors, graphical support, rear view camera support
4F0 910 283 H - 8 sensors, graphical support, rear view camera support

but can't find anything similar for the 8K0 919 475 series. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I bought a second hand unit code 8K0 919 475 AA a few weeks ago and will attempt a DIY this weekend, I hope it works, otherwise I’ll have to return it, seller gave me 60 days to return no questions asked.

Did you search on ebay? There are tens of these modules on sale.

scissorfighter 03-02-2019 06:26 AM

I sure did, but I can’t find any J models. Hence the question - I want to know if I can use a different “last letter” model instead!

believe any of the below since they have support for 8 sensors graphical and rear view camera, same as yours (with a question mark on P though both, J and P, are superseded with R version and R to AA).
8k0919475G/J/P/R/AA (given with chronological order)
Never tried 4F ones if compatible.

I have firmware updated my G version to R (exactly same hardware part) then I was told that AA would also work so firmware updated later to AA (though its HW part is different, not sure if I loose a new functionality my old hw does not support). AA is latest.

Good luck.

So
R replaced J.
AA replaced R which replaced J. (your link also shows P which was discussed above).

The end result is the same just wanted to pinpoint that R can also be used and is newer than J, but AA is latest newer than R. One may choose the cheapest another the most expensive :) which one would you choose if the difference was high?

Perfect, this is just what I needed. Thanks!

I’d go for the cheapest used part with a return warranty :) this is the one I bought:

Last time I purchased a part with a label HW and SW part were different on the box/case.

hope you are more lucky and you got the HW part ending with N (8P0919475N) . That is the original HW part with SW part ending with AA (8k0919475AA) . All previous SW parts (G/J/P/R) have a HW part ending with A (8k0919475A).

if you dont want to remove label you can also check with VCDs.

here is my firmware updated info:

Address 10: Park/Steer Assist (J446) Labels:. 8K0-919-475.clb
Part No SW: 8K0 919 475 AA HW: 8K0 919 475 A
Component: PARKHILFE 8K H06 0082

I have updated mine to AA but has different HW part number than original part.

Mission accomplished!

Just installed the eBay sourced used part (see pictures) and now my Parking Aid is back! It was literally a 5 minutes job. Weird thing is that I peeled off the silver sticker and it had a completely different part number, but hey, unplugged my unit, plugged in this one and everything went back to normal, $50 well spent!

PS1: There were no signs of moisture or water intrusion.
PS2: The new part seems to be from the VW catalog 5K0919475E, not sure why it had that silver label on top with the Audi part number. According to the seller it came from a totaled A4, maybe that car was fixed at certain point and this VW labeled unit was fitted, who knows

New (to me) eBay part after peeling the silver label, not the same part number as in the label!

Quick fix, unplugged the old one and plugged in the new one. And....

...Voilà, we are back!

Interested to see the VCDs control unit info (similar to my post above) of PDC and if it gives any DTCs. Would not be happy if there are DTCs due to compatibility issues.

uncleiggy 03-03-2019 12:22 PM

I’ll run a full scan tomorrow, I don’t have my PC with me this weekend. Hopefully this doesn’t interfere with any other component, but if it does at least I know that the parking aid controller is to blame and could even buy a new part, but hey, I might be lucky enough and get along with this one :)

No problems, I was really missing this feature as I park my car in an underground garage and the spots are very very tight. I don’t want to even imagine how much my dealer would have charged me for this, but I guess that north of $300 :(

Did you buy the part already? Good luck and keep us posted!

There you go, no other faults after 60km:

And this is BEFORE the "fix", and old scan before I started experiencing issues, but it shows SW & HW versions from factory:

So you got the correct internal parts and latest one after all. The case PNs after removing the label were incorrect.
8K0 919 475 AA HW: 8P0 919 475 N

Nice.

Yeah, I guess I was very lucky, still, I wonder if this is a VW part flashed with Audi part numbers/software, VCDS shows 1 succeeded flash attempt.

apoelistas 03-04-2019 08:01 AM

Do you know why coding is different?? Check long codings.

300103 vs 100105

No, HW part is Audi Part. HW part does not change after flashing (see my VCDs info after flashing to AA)

Yeah, I'll try later today, my battery died when I was about to do so, old aging laptop, not even lasts 20 mins on a charge :)

All looking good after new coding, the controller was coded for an A4 Avant with backup camera installed:

Yeah! I was about to code it the first time but my battery died! Now I’m researching on retrofitting memory options to my power driver seat, it seems like I already have got most of the parts, but that’s another thread.

scissorfighter 03-12-2019 12:57 PM

I replaced my faulty 8K0 919 475 J with a used 8K0 919 475 R, and it immediately worked! I had to use VCDS to recode the new R-version module to recognize the camera (as in @uncleiggy 's pictures in post #20 above,) and then all was well.

One interesting note is that I bought this car used, and VCDS showed the original fault code dated 3 years ago! If the previous owner had known how easy the fix was, they probably would have done it a long time ago.

Nice, it feels good to solve issues and enjoy the goodies of these cars!

Same issue on B8 Avant

So you bought a used one and did it didn't have to code it? I found the same part online but I heard modules need to be programmed. If it does how do you do this with VCDS? Mine module is dead according to my scan but my camera works no beeps or grids but camera works. I have no communication to the module so I can't even see what it is programmed. Any ideas how to program since I can't even get into the module?

Thanks for any help
Doug

If it’s the very same part it should be plug and play, at least that worked for me. Good luck!

scissorfighter 08-17-2019 06:21 PM

In my case I did have to do a minor recode to get the camera model recognized. The coding “lives” in the module itself, so that if you take a module from a vehicle with no backup camera, for example, and move it to a vehicle with a backup camera, you then have to tell it to use the camera through the recoding. It doesn’t really matter how your old module was coded; the new one just has to be set to support whatever park sensors and camera you have, which is pretty easy to do in VCDS.

Joseph Fable 05-14-2021 12:05 PM

I did the research and found the model that will work 8KO 919 475 AA, I have a 2010 Q5 premium plus.
if I have to update the firmware I would be willing to do it but do not know how. I am a novice at uploading info but I have done my own mechanical work.
Also would need to buy the OB2 reader? So suggestions would be helpful. Thank you in advance.

Joseph Fable 05-14-2021 12:07 PM

which VCDS did you use? I am new to using one and any info would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

silver_tt 05-14-2021 07:05 PM

Almost everyone here that's using VCDS is using the 3 VIN for $200:

Hi, I’m also looking for a replacement for my control module 8P0 919 475 Q. This is for 8 sensors and a camera in an Audi R8 V10. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
