Default Q5 steering problems

I have a 17 plate Audi Q5 2.0 TDI Quattro which I believe is the 8RB. my wife had an minor accident and I have replaced a few control arms and a wishbone. The steering now feels notchy.. it turns the full cycle no problem and at a certain point it feels almost like a car would when it has no power steering fluid ( I no these are electric ). The whole turn is lovely and smooth other than a few small areas that I can only describe as rough. I have checked under the car and dosnt seem to be anything rubbing on the rack or rod ends.

any help would be greatly appreciated

Hard to know without disassembly and measuring but after trauma described to other nearby parts your steering rack could be bent and that would cause your symptoms mentioned.

Barb, did you do this yourself, or did you have the car inspected and repaired by a shop?

If it was a shop, you need to tell them they missed something. There are some front end components that can look perfectly good from every angle--except one. So if someone doesn't examine the car very well, they miss it. The shock of an impact can also affect things that are not obvious, so the entire steering mechanism needs to be examined.

If a shop said "So many $$$, we can fix this all" then the next step is just to bring it back and say "remake".

If it was a DIY or otherwise, sure, you may need to explore more.
