I took mine in for the auxiliary heater TSB and flashed it back to stock before taking it in. They didn't mention anything about the tune.

Check this thread out. I believe it is the same tune but gives you the ability to swap it back to stock.

JR Auto Tuning TDI Tune

Dan

I read these reports of special tune ups with great interest.
Before proceeding to do same, it will really help if you Pls share actual test results such as Dyno, emissions test and fuel mileage.
Thank you

Every flash the ECU unit is registered in second place. You can restore the stock OEM ECU settings but every flash is registered. Even when working factory upgrade to is registered. Audi service it can not deleted
Services can find it for 30 seconds

Default ECU mods

Maybe someone could write some cheat software that recognized when Audi logs into the ECU and showed that everything was "normal"... wouldn't that be nice.

Default mileage change and other questions

Yo, actually about the mileage. Yes it does negatively impact the mileage. Not a tone, but it does.

You Canadians will get this. Americans will need to convert.

I would habitually get 5.1 l/100km on my trip on my 85 km commute(80% hwy). it would range between 4.9-5.2. I do featherfoot it. I don't hypermile, but i am light on my foot.

Apples to apples, i can't get any better than 5.6 l/100km. That's a 10% difference on the mileage comparing apples to apples. I have prided myself on being able to get insane mileage.

That said, I also had a Jetta with a Malone tune that hands down did 10% better. SO not sure what you guys want to make of it.

That said, a Q5 is supposed to do 6.5 l/100 hwy, so my vehicle might have been a freak of nature to start with, because even with a 10% increase in consumption, I am still 1 full l/100km better than quoted by Audi.

I'm going to do the DPF EGR deletes and see if that improves consumption. I have a feeling that the car can't breath very well. A buzzken or something from Malone would probably work.

I just asked them about overheating and if an aftermarket intercooler would be appropriate, and unless we are absolutely kicking the poo out of the car 24/7 the DPF/EGR delete should be sufficient.

I might get real gutsy and do the aftermarket turbos.

Just wanted to give you all my facts that I have found from my driving and what I heard from the wizzard of surrey (malone) lol

If anyone has any experience with the malone DPF/EGR deletes, please let me know. I would love to know how they have worked out for you guys, oh yeah, and the bigger turbos.

Cheers

One thing that has shot TDI in the proverbial foot from day one is the horribly conservative mileage shown on the sticker. From our Touareg, through my Cayenne, to our Q5, we have always gotten 20-25% better mileage than rated. Our Q5 "averages" just shy of 30mpg with a 60/40 City/HW mix. [sorry you Canadians may have to convert . . . ]

And, when I had the BlueSpark tune box on my Cayenne, I gained a full second 0-60 and 3mpg better mileage to boot. Since it will port right over, I've wanted to put it on the Q5 but I don't drive it enough and the wife could care less so I haven't. She is almost afraid of the power it has now . . . almost!

Pls clarify if your Cayenne was TDI or gas, and what year.
This may add perspective to people like me who have a recent Q5 TDI
Thx

I thought the first paragraph of my post did that but they were ALL TDI.

Hi all, so it's done! I have my Q5 almost there. I got the stage two a while ago and had the 210kmh limiter raised to 260 kmh. Unfortunately the car won't hit 260, only 240. Malone said it's because the EGT are too high and the computer makes sure the car doesn't explode.

About 2 weeks ago I got my DPF deleted and EGR and DPF removed. So. I haven't had a chance to try toppibg it out as Greater Vancouver has been blasted with snow, so will have to wait for a good day and nobody around. That said, I do feel a difference with the dpf delete.

Yes I know, I used the "feel" word. Well guess what? Merry Christmas, because I have a dyno booked for the new year! So I will have numbers, but the mechanics at PG performance gave my car a rip and say it's freakishly fast, not for a diesel, but just fast. Found a open stretch and did a few 0-100 runs. Prior to all this it was 6.8 seconda. Now 5.7. So...pretty big difference . Only thing is, it smokes when you punch it pretty good! Also you get the old school diesel smell. As they used to say in the marine engineers " diesel fumes make me horns" lol.

Also...now I'm taking up Malone on his stage 3. I want to see what this thing can do. I spoke to one of the techs at Malone and he said the trans on the Q5 can handle a lot, like 700+ ft/lbs it torque... so thinking of going with the stage 3 tuning...if I'm not mistaken I will be the first one...will keep you all posted
