I did not know bushings could leak!
What was it leaking- oil or something else?

Thanks for all of the feedback!! I'm DYI-ing the front rotors and pads today with Zimmermann rotors and Hawk 5.0 HPS pads. I'll do the rears Super Bowl weekend. 😁. I found some great videos for replacing the rear brakes without a VAGCOM. I'll let y'all know how it goes....

You can use Carista to service rear brakes as well, it’s a cheap solution for such matters. Good luck!

Oh, our 2010 (production date Sept. 2009) Q5 is so primitive - no hydraulic bushings in suspension components.
Audi may have added those to Q5s produced after Nov. 2009 because the p/n was different for Q5 produced before and after Nov. 2009.

I can attest that Audi uses hydraulic control arm bushings, once they are ruptured they are shot. I accidentally did so on my prev. B8.5 A4, like I said before easier to buy a whole new arm with the bushings than the bushing itself.

Default Leaking bushings

At 52K my local Audi dealership informed me that for a mere 1500 USD they would replace my leaking bushings (lower control arms) to which I said no thanks I'll get a second opinion. Audi feels that liquid filled bushings are better which seemed odd but whatever.. my mechanic said they will leak but that you still have a rubber bushing in place and when that wears then replace. Fast forward to 57K today where Audi now says the bushings are torn... Again, no thanks and it's at my mechanics for that second opinion. I agree that bushings should last far longer than 50k.
