Scratches on ashtray lid?

Hi folks,

New 2013 Q5 owner here. Has anyone noticed scratches on top of the ashtray? I'm thinking this is from when the ashtray lid is locked in the "open" position, it gets fine scratches from something inside. Not sure if anyone else has seen this issue, or if this is some type of damage from the previous owner.

Neither of mine have any scratches. There may be something stuck in yours.

A little sand, salt, sugar, anything "grit" like that could certainly do it.
