Default Newly replaced headlight bulb dead, again. (2014 SQ5)

A few weeks back, my right side headlight started flickering. The bulb completely went out a week later. The dash message read "Right low beam headlight/high beam headlight". I replaced both bulbs (right and left) with Phillips D3S bulbs shown below. Both bulbs worked before reasembling and testing again after putting everything together. I also drove the car a short distance yesterday. Today, I start the car and I get the same message that my right low beam headlight/high beam headlight. So the same r-side bulb is out again.

I checked for blown fuses in the driver side fuse box. Fuse #6 Headlights range control system/Conering light and and #7 Headlight (covering light) are both missing fuses in the fuse box. This isn't normal not to have fuses, is it? I've owned the car a year now with no issues with the headlight. I am not quite sure how to proceed besides taking the car in. My excitement of swapping out the bulbs myself and saving at least $500 is now short lived. Please help.

I also reviewed the headlight schematics It seems both the high beam and low beam is just one bulb, right? see link

I assume you are already out of the 4/50 warranty period (otherwise this would most likely be covered under warranty). Assuming that, you might want to try swapping the bulbs from right to left. If after the swap the passenger light is still out, then you know it is not the bulb. These bulbs are run by a high voltage ballasts (sometimes called control units) and if one or both of them are out there will be no power going to the bulb. However, if it were me and the bulb did not fix the problem, I would probably have someone who has had experience with this diagnose it first before throwing parts at it.

Correct. I'm out of warranty. You are probably right that it could be the control unit. Thanks.

As Heisnuts has stated, swap the bulbs, and if the bad right side bulb shows up bad on the left side, then most likely a bad bulb. Your bulb package states 3 year warranty so you should have no problem getting a new bulb for free.

Now if the right side keeps blowing bulbs, then the control module may be producing overvoltage and be suspect. You seem to have a good OEM bulb left from the first time you blew one bulb. You may want to run that in the right side for a while until you are sure that it is a bulb and not the control module before wasting new bulbs. How hard is it to change the right side bulb?

Yes, I do have one used OEM bulb left. I'd rather not waste another bulb, since there is a brand new bulb in there that worked for a day. I had a hard time getting the harness off, not until I watched a YouTube video showing how to unclick the harness clip. I had to remove the air box and move things around. I thought I would be able to completely slide the entire headlight assembly (click link) out after disconnecting the harness (as seen on some models), but the unit has a glass lip below that made that impossible. I was able to slide the assembly forward to gain access to the bulb. It took me 1.5 hours yesterday. I could probably do it in 30 minutes or less now.

Thanks!
