Default SQ5 Loaner

Not sure if this s/b under the MkII discussion but I took my 2014 SQ5 in for service/recall yesterday and I was very pleasantly surprised that Audi of Henderson gave me a 2018 SQ5 as loaner. Maybe they're trying to encourage an upgrade ...

It only has 500 miles on it so I was gentle on it. I don't have a lot to add to other driving impressions but I will echo that the turbo lag is noticeable and I do not like the fake quad exhaust nor the "stuck on" MMI screen. I do like the heads-up speed display and the alcantra trim.

I still only have 24000 miles on my 2014 so I'm not in the market for a new one but it was nice to get a nice loaner.

Lucky you! An SQ5 loaner. One does not come across a loaner of that caliber most of the time. The typical Audi dealership usually loans out a mid-range model A4 or Q5 most of the time. I have read about cars with the new 3.0L TFSI V6 engine and turbo lag. I wonder how bad turbo lag is when the car is in Dynamic or S mode. I am assuming that you did not try driving in these sportier modes?

My local dealer loans out Q3’s, Q5’s, A6’s, and the occasional Q7.

Au contraire, I was in S mode. Still some lag. I'm spoiled by the supercharged 8R SQ5. Steve

Yeah I'm lucky I have a couple of good dealerships. All I have to do is turn left or right and drive 75km/50 miles and I'm there. One of my dealers, the one if I turn right, knows that I'm into classic cars so he set me up with a Ur-S4 in pristine condition.Had it for 2 days while they did my T belt etc. What a hoot !
