Default 2013 MMI enhancements

I used my navigation last night for the first time and I have to say I was impressed with how much better it is than my previous MMI (2006 A4). I'm not sure if you get this from the Google integration with Audi Connect, but I liked how it told me what was available at each upcoming exit -- you can turn this off, by the way.

It's a lot more flexible, but also harder to learn. I feel like I need to sit and study it more to get the most use out of it. Just wanted to point this out in case anyone is on the fence about paying for the MMI.

Good info. I didn't know about that feature.

From your screen shot, it looks like it was via Google/Audi Connect. It's $30/month after the 6 month trial subscription.

Not sure if it's negotiable, but my dealer offered 36 months for $450.

My Canadian 2013 model does this, and we don't have Audi Connect up here.

Getting my 2013 Q5 next week, just parted my 2012 for it, so really interested in the new Google maps and if it comes with any traffic alerts for canada?

How's anyone found a prepaid solution? 30 bucks a month would be a waste given i don't use it as often.

POIs are supposed to be hardcoded in (basically the Google integration is on top of a "normal" nav system). I'm not sure what exactly the added services are, and I would hope that you could get some sort of updates via Audi Connect, but you have a fully-functional nav system without going online.

For those interested, there's also other ways of getting service other than the official SIM through Audi (normal T-Mobile or AT&T SIMs will work, as well, though if you use the Wi-Fi hotspot feature that could get complicated with various tethering rules). Depending on service and usage, you could save quite a bit without having the contract in place. I'm not sure what I'm leaning towards (still need to remind myself what exactly is included in the service and go from there).

There's no traffic currently available from SiriusXM Canada. Some people have been able to work signing up with SiriusXM USA (need a US billing address but supposedly you can set the billing up on a Canadian credit card just fine).

IF you purchase 36 mos. upfront within 7 days of taking delivery, you can get the T-mobile service for $15/mo (at least in the US). Ask the sales rep if he/she doesn't bring it up.

When I first set up my subscription an offer from T-Moble for something like $12/mo. flashed across the screen, but you had to extend for the 3 years within 10-11 days or something like that.

At that time I didn't know if I even liked the sytsem so didn't do anything within the short timeframe.

Correction. The offer was 1/2 price or $15/mo.
