SQ5 TDI Exhaust Sound Booster
#11
Say what now? A speaker in the exhaust sounds very incorrect. Maybe the TDI is diferent from the TFSI but I thought the actuators just opened up the shutoff valves of inner tail pipes, allowing exhaust to flow out of all 4 exits vs 2 when actuators are closed. More exhaust openings = more loud.
So what is the "actuator"?
I want more volume out of my TFSI so that's why I'm curious.

TDI has 2 speakers (aka sound actuators), one in each back box.

I was under the impression the TFSI had a similar setup, but I do know it has butterflies in the pipes so your analysis may be accurate.

It shows the "actuator" which I had thought only contolled the valve flap directly beneath it in the exhaust tip (easily seen if you look inside the exhaust tip). Are there any active sound pulses coming from this thing as well? I'll have to inspect the exhaust pipe closer.

Here is a photo I took when I had my bumper off to install a hitch. Pretty sure yours is just a flap, or at least the bit pictured is.

I believe the exhaust valves will be open all the time you're driving in S mode. I just wish we could set the car to start in S not in D. Steve
