SQ5 tire 255/40 R21

I find the 21's to be less harsh and noisy than the 19's that were on my S5. Like many have said. I don't know why Audi puts summer only tires on a SUV. I have a 20 inch winter set-up. But when it comes time to replace the 21's I will go with a UHPAS

Also keeping fingers crossed for UHPAS in 21" size, but realistically I'm doubtful. SQ5 is the only vehicle using this size, and since it's a low volume car, I'm not sure it would make sense financially for a tire company to invest in production of such tire. Pilot Sport A/S 3 would be sweet though.

Winter salvation
After digging through some tire manufacturer sites I did find a 255/40R21 winter tire from Pirelli, so the SQ5 can at least get some nice winter shoes with the scorpion winters.

Now have 700+ miles on the 21" Dunlop Sport maxx GT and I'm surprised at the comments regarding road noise and tire roar. I have not experienced such with these tires. If anything, I've found them to be very smooth and quiet whether driving around the neighborhood or cruising at highway speeds. No roar, no noise. Perhaps the noise might manifest with more miles, or it's possible that I am desensitized to tire noise given how loud it is to drive the GT3. But I really don't think so. It's certainly not any more tire noise than the comfy bridgestone duelers on my escalade.
All tires are wonderful the initial 5-7 thousand miles.

I saw that too, but is that size available in North America? I noticed that Goodyear now makes their Ultra Grip winter tire in 255 50 21, would think this would fit, 2.1 inches taller than the OEM size.

My SQ5 was delivered with the 21" Pirellis. I have no complaints with the first thousand miles, except that they're ugly. In researching replacement options, there have been a few more manufacturers making the 21" tire. However, you have to go up to a 265/40R21. There are Pirelli, Dunlop, Michelin, and three from Continental in that size: CSC2, CSC5P, & CCUHP. I believe I'm going to try a set of those Conti's next...but which one?
BTW, there is no freaking way you could fit 255/50R21's on an S/Q5 without some ridiculous spacers, at least not in the front.

I actually want to go one size up. The 265's will fit without issue, and should provide a slightly smoother ride. In fact, the tread width between the the 255 Pirellis (8.4") and the 265 Contis (9.5") is substantial, while adding only a quarter-inch to the diameter. The extra width is not an issue because I have 12mm spacers up front (and 20mm in the rear, not that it would be an issue).
