Just put a set together with Conti Extreme Contact DWS' for around ~2K. Good price but still pretty steep.

I think I would rather go with new take offs......but above setup is so tempting :-)

To maximize snow/slush abilities and decrease hydroplaning, go with 235s. To compromise and have improved dry and wet traction go with 255s.
Looking at Hartmann 19" rims. So 235/55/19 or 255/50/19 will fit fine on this rim? I don't understand the rubber to rim deal lol. Audi's recommended size is 235/55/19 so I was leaning that way. Although your take makes me think the 255/50/19 is better compromise.

This is my understanding....

If you look at the tire specs, it tells you what the measuring rim width the tire needs. For example, if you look at Pirelli Scorpion Winter tires, the 20" tire has a measuring rim width of 8.5", but will fit on a range of 8-9.5" (check the spec tab). The 19" tire has a measuring width of 7.5" and a range of 6.5-8.5"/

From checking the Hartmann Wheel Site, the wheel specs are 19x8.5 or 20x9.0. So in the case of the Pirelli Scorpion Winter tires, they will fit on the respective sized rims, with the 19" wheels being a tight fit as the rim is on the edge of the range allowed for the tire.

Thank you!!

I think I am leaning towards the OEM recommended setup of 235/55/19's on 19" Hartmann HS5-209-GS rims. I am hoping they look ok as I think this is best setup for winter...I think!
