Stuck Oil Filter

"I also made sure to tell the SA 100x to lube the seal on the filter and not overtighten it!"
Dunno, coogs. If the dealer is willing to give you a free oil change when they do it wrong....<VBG>....You might want to encourage them to use a dry seal and have TWO GUYS tighten it down.

Heating things up usually expands the metal and makes things stick tighter. But hosing them down with a CO2 extinguisher or packing them with dry ice chips in an alcohol slush, will cause metals to contract and usually get unstuck.
If all else fails.

Heating causes thermal expansion, which forces the two thread surfaces to shift, breaking any adhesion between them. It's often effective when the seizure is caused by galling due to thermal cycling. For an oil filter my guess would be the threads weren't lubricated at install time.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Like I stated earlier I tried every type of oil wrench that I could find; the 'C' clamp style, metal band, snap-on 3 jaw ratchet, socket, and a strap loop.
I've never had to lubricate or apply anti-seize to an oil filter before to prevent galling...I think the cause of it being stuck was a combination of it being slightly over-torqued, but mainly not lubricating the contact area between the o-ring and the seal surface.
