Fun exercise! I pass on vanity plates because they're too easily remembered by law enforcement and people who want to play law enforcement. I also think they're vain. With that said, I'd try to use some punctuation marks but not too many:

RTL&STNK (doesn't apply to clean diesels but can't resist)

GOT_TQ?

GOT_CR?

COMP=IGN

COMP_IGN

GOTRANGE

CLN&GRN

SPKPLGS?

OILSIPPR

TDI?CHK!

Default Here's what I went with....

After debating for a while what to get for my diesel, I went with the following. I wanted something that connected to the TDI, but didn't just blatantly say "Q5 TDI" or similar. ROLLCOAL, while fun, was too obscure and wouldn't have connected to many. Even with OILBURNR, it's not necessarily an immediate connection to diesel for those not in the know, but at least they may still chuckle. My prior "SCOOLBUS" on a yellow wagon was much more intuitive

Sorry to hijack, but I'm looking for a 5 character for my Q5 TDI (I can't stand the default FL plate and most specialties limit to 5).

These are currently available:

AUTDI
CTANE
GLWPG
TRQUE
580NM

What specialties are you looking at? I had a couple FL vanities with 6 letters.

Some accept 7, but the 5 character Challenger/Columbia plate is the only one that looks good and is a cause a care anything about.

The application lists the lengths:
