As of Feb 10th, all issues have been resolved with my sunroof. After Audi Downtown Toronto dropped in the new glass on Jan 21st I had my Q5 back until Feb 8th. The Sun shield and frame still had issues and those two new parts were on order so they asked me to just not use the sun shield for a couple weeks till the parts came in. I took back my Q5 last week so they could swap in the new parts and all looks good. It's still a really mild winter in Ontario Canada so time will tell if all is resolved. The technician's opinion was that this issue probably occurs when their is a drastic drop in temperature and that it is in combination with a bad batch of glass. Based on all the stories on this thread I tend to agree...fingers crossed.

Default UPDATE

Ok, like most on here, Audi are repairing under warranty & doing so quickly, although we were told 22nd Feb for the panel, it is at the dealer already, they are also replacing a few items of trim that the "flying/falling" glass has apparently marked too. So, more than happy with their efforts, just need to wait now for them to do all the work.

Also - see other thread, they are unable to improve the performance of the heated seats!

I think Audi has already issued a recall for this. Affects sunroof for Q5s manufactured in a certain range (mid to late 2011).

I beleive that the sunroof allows the air to escape around the seals when you close the doors. With the sunroof and surrounding parts frozen, the expanded air pressure had no where to go except thru the weakest point (glass).

If you close the door(s) hard enough the sunroof "jumps".
