Swapping 2013 headlights to a 2009-2012
I'm curious if anyone has done this. I love the new headlights on the 2013's. I know they probably cost way t0o much to buy new and swap though.

Don't think I've seen anyone talking about it, but you could always check with Alex over at Europrice and see if he's had anyone do that (and how much it would cost). Sometimes connectors change or there's subtle changes in the mounting or whatever that throw wrenches in the works, or it may be drop-in and it'd just be the cost of the headlight assemblies and the physical labor of swapping them out. :)

I talked with Alex over a month ago about this. I was going to swap both headlights and taillights. The rears are possible (as far as I know he has a rear kit (already modified) in stock. He wasn't sure about the front, but thought they wouldn't work, nor fit against the bumper cover since they changed the grille.
Since I couldn't do both, I just decided against doing it. I wanted the euro Spec front hid adaptive lights anyway. |
I don't know for sure, but it looks like the light housings are different sizes. I don't think you can swap the lights.

As he wrote ThunDerdent exists rear kit:
http://www.kufatec.de/shop/en/product?info=4398 Maybe there is a possibility for the headlights I think it will soon be for the headlights as there are A4 facelift http://www.kufatec.de/shop/en/product?info=7262 |

Everything is possible... if it's real... and if you have enough money ;)
Headlights are not problem. They will fit perfectly. But you need more parts, coding knowledge etc... Here you can, and everyone else, get idea what is possible for Q5: http://www.audi-service.ru/Q5_8R_95 and this http://www.audi-service.ru/Q5_8R_107 and this http://www.audi-service.ru/Q5_8R_14363 and this http://www.audi-service.ru/all_182 and even this: http://www.audi-service.ru/index.php...roduct_id=1353 as I said, everything is possible if you have enough time/money... This company is in Russia so it is not possible even for me to go there. It's too far even from Europe... ... so first you need Ross-Tech VAG-COM cable/software than use Google and search, learn, search, learn, search..... ;) Or bye new car with FULL EQUIPMENT... ;) Good luck !!! hint: Use Google Translate, use Google, Google is your best friend ;) |
Anyone successfully retrofited the FL headlights eventually ?
Or am I going be the first one ? :p I already got the images of the FL headlights connectors ... not sure if the harness will be needed as well, like it is needed to do the rears (2010->2013). |
I'm wondering as well because I was thinking about doing this mod. I can't imagine why it wouldn't work as the size seems exactly the same and there aren't any extra bulbs, etc. I think the only issue may be if you have factory halogen, but factory xenon seems like it could be plug 'n play. I can't imagine anything needing to be programmed if you have factory xenon they should behave the same way.
