Default For those that want their SQ5 lowered...

Solution to the unlowered SQ5 TFSI?

I'm thinking about it on my SQ5 TDI as well TBH!

Thanks for the link...however, after a few days of driving and looking at my SQ5, I would never lower it. The arch gap matter is completely overblown and a non-issue, at least for this kid.

It's a personal taste thing for sure. Not everyone cares or wants it lower.

Aside from looks though, the higher centre of gravity and longer springs on the TFSI compared to the TDI must change the driving characteristics.

Hey jcom, I can't tell from the thumbnail of your car, are you running on 20s or 21s? Steve

21s. If you keep clicking on his thumb through to his garage you can get a bigger pic.

Default Having just driven the Q5 flat out in Germany...

if I were going high speed/performance for the life of the car, vehicle and center of gravity are too high and tires too sloppy. That was on 235/55-19s though--Michelin Latitude A/S's--rather than at least the 255/45's for the 20's. Admittedly these were at speeds grossly unrealistic almost anywhere else, but it was great to find where the real limits approached and the related dynamic feel. Net and with about 2000 high speed miles in total, beyond 110-115 it was feeling too top heavy on even the uber long sweepers on the unlimited speed Autobahn sections. Anything above that was really for quasi straightline only, even when traffic only occasionally permitted. Vehicle is also noticeably more vulnerable to side winds above about 100, and passing large vehicles at speed in adjoining lanes requires steering attention and a bit of adjustment as you hit the suction and pressure waves in the air stream. Net, if this were my German daily Autobahn driver, I would run it with higher performance tires and wheels and want it 1-2" lower. It was good though to be able to clear most any curb or parking type issue, which are as bad or worse in Northern Europe than in CA.

As I suspected ahead of time too, it could use a somewhat stiffer set of roll bars--Hybrid already has the 3.0T brakes and (I think) 3.0T roll bars. Still waiting to see a parts listing breakout on the 2014 SQ to see if they did actually tweak the roll bar.

Now that we have SQ5 pics in the wild, here's a look at what the lowered version looks like with the 21s.
