I just purchased a 2013 and had the tow hitch installed. It did not come with a wiring harness to connect to a trailer. Where do I source the wiring that plugs into the outlet by the hitch?

Thanks,
Scott

The bumper is not cut at the port; a section pops out. If, and that's a big if, you get it done at a dealer. Aftermarket, your guess is as good as mine. I had one added just for a bike rack. The rack on top, with my steep driveway, just wasn't feasible.

The wiring harness on a Q5 does a lot more than just control the lights on the trailer. I believe it will also adjust things like the engine management system and ABS. If you are adverse to taking it to the dealer, you should find an independent with experience in this area.

What makes it look offset is the plug for the trailer's electronics. They need to make a cut on the left side of the receiver.

I guess they could have been more creative and just cut a small hole for the plug, instead of just widening the main cut out.
Thanks, this makes sense. It seems that in some cases (https://www.audiworld.com/forums/sho....php?t=2836223) the entire plate is dropped from the bottom (52) and in others the plate was cut and offset (53).
I wonder if one can ask for the whole bottom plate to be dropped instead of leaving it to chance.
Also, my dealer insists that the install is from the factory not the port. Is this the case now?
