Default trading her in...

What do you think is a fair trade in for my 2012 2.0T premium plus in excellent condition, 27,000 miles. I have nav, B&O stereo, advanced key. I am getting prices all over the map from 30 to 34K. Looking at a new 2013 Q7 TDI premium plus. Thanks! I'm in Ohio...as I think location does change the value a bit.

All that matters is the difference you pay, not what they give you for it.

So take your time. start by spending a few weeks negotiating your new Q7 first, get that price buttoned down then bring the trade into the picture.

Yeah, I am a little stumped on that too...they are offering the Q7 at $56,400. I can't find pricing that low anywhere and even the true car/KBB is higher. I can't decide if I have more room to negotiate that price or rather negotiate more trade in value.

What's the MSRP on the Q7 (any options on it)? A new 2014 Q7 TDI P+ stickers for $59,795, so you're basically looking at about 6% off new MSRP (assuming no options on it). Since you're looking at a "leftover" 2013, you should maybe be able to do a little better than 6%, but I'm guessing that there's probably pretty good demand for Q7 TDI's in OH so that may limit how much the dealer's willing to move.

MSRP is $61,925. I hate to admit that I'm not exactly sure what options it has aside from what the P+ comes equipped with! It has MMI and towing, plus 20" wheels and the winter package.

So the $56,400 is 9% off MSRP which sounds like a pretty good deal - did the dealer say if that price includes the owner loyalty money of $1,500 that you're entitled to for owning the Q5?

In regard to the trade in value for your Q5, I'd suggest looking on Cars.com to see what local dealers are retailing similar models, with similar mileage for, and then knock $3-4k off that to determine what a trade-in value might.

Yes, that includes the loyalty dollars.

If it's me and I like the current Q7, I'd wait until we closer to the second-generation Q7 rollout (Fall 2014 as a 2015 model?). Presumably Audi would become very eager to move leftover 1st gen Q7s at that point. If you can't wait then yes, it becomes a "How-much-money-plus-my-car-to-take-your-car" deal...
