Transmission Issues Q5 Help
I have a 2012 Q5 3.2L w/ 80K miles and for the past 5 months I have had hard shift from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3. It also down shifts much less smoothly. I still have extended warranty and I have been into Audi 5 times to try and get this situation resolved. They claim it is within acceptable range.
They did replace the mechatronic module. They claimed that they smelled burn trans fluid and noticed the fluid was low.
I am still having the issue with he harder shifts. Its going into the shop next week and I want to get this resolved. What do you guys think I need to say to these service guys to get off their *** and fix the problem?
This has been extensively documented with Audi.
Thanks,
Neal

The original factory warranty is pretty good about fixing issues like yours. CPO and aftermarket warranties not so much. Unless it fully fails the dealer has no way to get reimbursed unlike the original warranty.
Was any trans fluid changed and or topped off when it smelled burnt and was low?
Even if they did change and and top off there is still plenty of old burnt fluid in there unless fully disassembled.
Either way I would change the fluid and filter and see if that helps.

rdA4WtQ5 Good advice. If any improvement is noted then do a second fluid swap in about 5k.Seems expensive but compared to transmission costs it's chump change.Use the right fluid and follow procedure.Very important.

If they drained the fluid and it smelled burnt, how did they see it was low...?
Last year I did a partial drain and refill (about 3.5L) and noticed improved shifting.
ZF (the manufacturer) recommends to change the filter and the fluid every 100,000km/60,000miles.
I called two Audi dealerships and both told me they would not do filter+fluid change because "it is a lifetime fluid and Audi does not recommend to change it unless there is a problem inside the transmission".
Planning to go to independent to do it- I probably could do it myself but don't want to spent so much time on my back since I have no access to the lift.

Same issue
I have a 13 q5 hard shifting from 1st to 2nd. I drained it and put about 4 liters in it. Little improvement. I am going to my friends shop and going to do a flush with a machine. Going to put 12 fresh liters in it. I've been using ravenol fluid.
