2013 and newer are really great cars. Some of the best reviews from Audi owners I've ever seen on the newer models. Good luck.

My Q5 2009 has those parts incorporated though I have not done timing chain yet. 2014 should also have the timing chain tensioner failing issue sorted out too..

Well I've looked at and drove the 12 Q5 a couple of times now. It is definitely clean and dry. Seems well maintained and drives and runs great. Getting close to pulling the trigger on it. Still trying to find out service history on it. Anyone have a way to find that? I've found a few things on it but would really like to know if pistons and or timing chain and tensioner work has been done. 85,xxx miles asking 12,500 for it. What do you all think? Thanks!

Service History you can get from dealer. I was in your shoes when I got my 2009 Q5 tfsi. Still running after 30000 km but better than first purchased.

Look at the Carfax. The service intervals on mine were there. 5, 10, 15, 20......55, 65k service intervals all there, from the same dealer I bought it from. If not, ask for records, especially on the engine fixes. The guy you eventually sell to will be looking for the same info from you.

Don't even consider a 12 2.0L (I presume ?) unless you have absolute documented proof that the "oil consumption" issue has been properly addressed by previous owner. If it wasn't then perhaps it's a good one but it's far too expensive to find yourself on the hook for.

Well thanks everyone but.. I own it now! LOL! I did it today. Found out some service records on it till I tracked down the dealership where it was purchased new. The lady there said I couldn't get records unless I owned the vehicle. I did look at the carfax and saw that they did an oil consumption test then 7xx miles later the vehicle was serviced. Hoping it was pistons replaced and it was too much to list in detail. Guess I'll find out tomorrow when I call her back and get the service records. Wish me luck!

Carfax has gotten infamous for errors and omissions. And they don't give a damn about correcting them. I pulled a Carfax on my last car (sole owner) and they showed a second title had been issued that neither the DMV or I knew about. I tried to contact them--never got any response. The lack of response tells me they're useless.
Any dealer can pull the service records, firsthand from Audi. May not show indy work or insurance incidents like Carfax, but at least they will be accurate for Audi shop work.
