Used Audi Q5 What to look for

Well, I ran the bore scope into all the cylinders and the cross hatch looks good. PCV looks to be all black though. Maybe I should run it up to the dealer and see what they say it needs and go from there. Is the newer firmware an update they can do or does that include the new pistons and rings?
The dealer can replace the PCV valve and updated firmware coding without changing rings/pistons. Hopefully the PCV and coding will solve your problem. It has worked for some in the past.
How much oil are you using?

I assume that you saw no cylinder wall scoring? That's great that the cross hatching is still there in case you need rings, and/or pistons.

Black PCV:
First thing would be to update engine firmware, swap PCV with the dual colour one, and change crank front seal (stage 1 of oil consumption) ASAP. Then I would assume that you also have to carry out stage 2, new pistons with piston rings and new conrods (unless you have the correct conrods PN). Then really that would be it.
