I assume that you saw no cylinder wall scoring? That's great that the cross hatching is still there in case you need rings, and/or pistons.

The dealer can replace the PCV valve and updated firmware coding without changing rings/pistons. Hopefully the PCV and coding will solve your problem. It has worked for some in the past.

How much oil are you using?

Can't say yet. Only had it less than a week. At first when I checked the oil level it said to lower the level. Rechecked it today and it was right at max. Going to keep an eye on it. And that's correct I saw no scoring. They looked very nice.

Black PCV:
First thing would be to update engine firmware, swap PCV with the dual colour one, and change crank front seal (stage 1 of oil consumption) ASAP. Then I would assume that you also have to carry out stage 2, new pistons with piston rings and new conrods (unless you have the correct conrods PN). Then really that would be it.

Why new rods too? I have a guy checking on past service. Says he will E-mail me the report of what's been done already.
