Hi my friend,
Sorry to resurrect this thread but I've searched extensively to find an answer and will provide some insight and my own way to resolve this. Apparently though Sirius and XM are now one company, instead of marketing one radio type to auto manufacturers for new cars, they still market a "Sirius" only radio and a "SiriusXM" radio. VW/Audi have elected to integrate "Sirius" only radio's in most of our cars, though I'm not sure about 18-19-20's. The downfall of this is we only receive channels up to 219(this includes our 2008 Beetle convertible). I am not sure if the radio module can be upgraded/replaced(factory style). You can certainly spend some $ and buy a standalone unit from SiriusXM and add it to the existing system, or the fix I'm using that cost me nothing. I have an existing SiriusXM subscription in my RAM truck(SiriusXM radio) that allows me to stream on other devices and it recieves ALL the channels. I installed their app on our iPhone's and stream our service through bluetooth to the MMI Nav+ and it works fantastic. To maintain excellent fidelity in the car it is imperative to have the phone volume up all the way; the sound quality to me is light years better than the built in Sirius radio that came in the 2015 Q5.
Hope this can assist anyone struggling with the 219 channel Sirius issue.
Best regards,
Randi
