VWAG is at 60% of Gen 1 3.0 L cars off the road, 49% of Gen 2’s fixed or off the road. They need to get to 85% to avoid a fine.

They have a long way to go and the claims are slowing down. IMHO the claims process is too complex for some non techie owners. Some folks will need help with the process. There are probably others though who will wait until nearer the deadline because the 1250 miles per month allowed with no penalty make the cost per mile of these vehicles lower than anything else we could be driving. We were going to wait longer on ours until a near perfect replacement showed up at a nearby dealer last month. Ours( 2011) goes back March 29th. A what if —- What if they get close to the 85% but aren’t there and it would be cheaper to sweeten the buyback or fix compensation than to pay the fine?

they pay the fine, they cant sweeten the deal the court approved.. if somehow they got approval for that then the'd get sued by everyone else whom turned in too.. thats simply never gonna happen.

Fixes didnt hit full stride til December 2017 (SUV) or Febuary 2018 (PC), most of November/January was waiting for parts to get distributed (took >3 weeks for mine to show up and I scheduled on day 1), so in ~4months or less the've managed to fix half of em and they basically have ~1.75 years left of the program.. If they keep up this rate the'll hit 100% come July of this year, yeah they gonna slow down a bit.. thats natural.

Buybacks are smartest to wait til the last possible moment, you got a deprecation proof vehicle.. fixes only real incentive to do it early is that warranty, I bet alot are still under factory or extended warranty and they will start to care more right before the deadline comes up.. I'm impressed by those numbers not encouraged they wont make 85% come Nov 2019

I was wonder about that after I've done the fix.
You just sit in the rocking chair drink some cold drink. My check was arrived maybe couple weeks later.

I received my entire Bosch payment months before I had he modification completed. There doesn't seem to be a consistent pattern.

Anybody opt out and go the attorney route? Wondering if they did better. I had a 2015 A8L TDI, took the settlement $, and traded the car.

None of the opt out cases for the 2.0L class have been ruled upon yet, let alone the 3.0L class.. they are still playing stalling games trying to get a venue ruled upon.. however I'd expect them to do better when all is said and done, but thats still a ways out.
