Useful idiot

In political jargon, a useful idiot is a derogatory term for a person perceived as a propagandist for a cause of whose goals they are not fully aware and who is used cynically by the leaders of the cause. The term was originally used to describe non-Communists regarded as susceptible to Communist propaganda and manipulation. The term has often been attributed to Vladimir Lenin, but this attribution is controversial.

A while back in this thread there was a (heated?) disagreement on whether a DPF that did not break, but got full would be considered a wear item (we pay), or would be covered under the dieselgate warranty (Audi pays). Here begins the relevant section:

Just this week that exact case happened to an owner on TDI club and here is the outcome:
DPF Not Covered Under Extended Warranty? - TDIClub Forums

Moral of story, be polite and be persistent. I thought the suggestion to get a denial in writing, though not ultimately needed, was pretty brilliant.

Mythdoc that could be valuable info to many. VAG and their dealers will be scrounging to recoup some of the Billions this has cost them, so we must be vigilant.
