I was given an Audi OEM roof rack designed for the first gen Q5’s. The rack’s crossbars are longer than what the 2018 Q5 requires. Therefore, the rack’s clamps are spaced too far apart. I can solve that issue by drilling new bolt holes on one end of each crossbar, and repositioning the clamp(s). However, are the clamps compatible with the 2018’s rails? From what I can see, the clamp’s pins fit the pin holes in the rails. I’m not certain that the clamp’s claw is suited for the rail. Does anyone know if the clamp’s design is different for the new generation of Q5?

Did you not get the rails for the 18 when you bought it. I got them in my SQ.

Must be up to the dealer then, they were in the back of our SQ bought in Dec.

Some SQ5's come with them, some do not - depends on build date. No Q5's come with them at all.

I had them in back when I picked up my SQ5 late December. I didn't order them and my sales guy said the port probably made a mistake and I received a free rack. Saved me having to get one.

There are couple of threads talking about the fitment of the cross bars between the old and new Q5's. I guess this confirmed the old ones are not exactly the same as the new one (MY 18). I better be shopping for a new set of cross bars...
