2018 sq5 start/stop
New to the forum, new to Audi. I’ve tried many different types of braking pressures/approaches repeatedly on my Canadian 2018 sq5 and I can’t get the the start/stop to perform consistently. Slow roll, quick stop, backing off, increasing pressure, combinations of all of the above... 10-20% of the time it works properly and the rest of the time it shuts off while still rolling (just before coming to rest). Very annoying not to be able to keep the engine on, for example when it’s a quick stop sign or you can see the light is turning green as you come to a stop. Plus shutdown prior to full stop produces an awkward jerky stop (almost like the feeling of an engine stall).
I understand s/s doesn’t work when power consumption overrides it - everytime I managed to keep the engine on I made sure s/s was actually active by fully pressing the brake to make sure the engine shut off properly.
Fantastic vehicle, absolutely awful start/stop. Driven fords with better s/s. Stunning that they got this so wrong.
I’ve read that they corrected this for 2019. IMO Audi should fix the 2018’s. I understand it’s no small fish since there are potential emissions testing issues. Local dealer says nothing can be done at their level. Yes, I can drive in a different mode or turn it off. But I’m super annoyed, both in practice and in principle.
Anyone else experiencing/feeling the same as me?

Yup, I think they need better software. What I hate is the initial lag, the first few times I peddled the accelerator thinking something was amiss.
