No I haven't, but the Miata is no bigger than a go-cart, so they had other industrial design challenges.

you are correct, person that design this lives and drives in Germany. You don’t use the cup holders in EMEA that often if at all. In addition they also not overcompensating for other shortages by using a 6.5” phones hans the phone Storage issue.

Now should a car for Global market dress every need and every want of every demographic??? Probably not and EMEA is its biggest market.

No - but it does not take a rocket scientist to notice that cup holders interfere with arm rester. So don’t care what country you are from. Just very poor design.
