2021 Q5 Tail lights
Hello! My rear taillight went out on my Q5 and I am having trouble removing the light from the trunk hatch. I have looked all over for a video or schematic on how to remove the taillight but have been unable to. If anyone has any documentation or tips it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I replaced my 2018 and I don't think it is any different. I left some pictures here somewhere I will see if I can find the thread and post the link for you. It was pretty easy.

Sorry, I can not get the search to work. If you can, do a search for my username and see what you can find. I put in my username, and it tells me have no posts.

I greatly appreciate your assistance but am unable to find your post. For more clarity, the silver piece highlighted in yellow below is what I am wondering about. Does that come off so I can remove the light? I was able to remove the two screws from inside holding the light in, and it does wiggle a bit, but it just seems like that silver piece is preventing me from pulling the light out, unless that is by design and I need to use a little more force to wiggle it out? thanks again!

I tried the username posts search, but it only shows the last 22 posts you've made.

First, pop open your trunk so you can get to the tail light from the inside. Once you're in there, look for an access panel or cover behind the tail light. It's usually held in place with some clips or screws. Carefully remove the panel; if it's clipped, you might need a trim removal tool to pry it open, but be gentle so you don't break anything.
Next, you need to disconnect the wiring harness before taking out the tail light. Find the plug that connects to the assembly, press down on the tab, and pull it out. With the wiring out of the way, you should see the mounting screws or bolts that keep the tail light in place. Grab a screwdriver and unscrew them. Now you can pull the tail light out. It might need a little wiggling because there are usually some guiding pins or extra clips. If it feels stuck, just double-check to see if there's another clip or fastener holding it in place. If you don't find anything, give it a gentle tug, and it should come right out. That's pretty much it! |
I am glad MFGF found the post. I had the same issue G Guy had where I could only see a few of my posts.
Let us know how you made out. |
