40k service and brakes

I'm coming up on 40k miles and was slightly confused by the service manual for a 18 SQ5...

Am I correct that it's just oil change, plugs and check this-check that? I know the dual clutch has a 40k service, but I don't see anything regarding the automatic. Thanks!

Regarding the brakes, these look a hair different than the brembos I'm used to working on. On past ones, it was a matter of removing a pair of retaining clips and the pads slide out. With the dust covers on these, it seems like just removing the caliper would be easier. Has anyone done this yet that could chime in or are there any online walk throughs anyone can recommend?

You are correct. Brake fluid flush is every 2 years. No recommended service for the auto transmission.

No idea on the brakes.

ZF the transmission manufacturer recommends changing the fluid every 70k miles. Audi somehow claims the fluid is lifetime fluid. To each their own, I changed mine at 70k.

Yea I'm not sure I'm down with lifetime fluid. I'm sure there's a peteolium engineer pulling out his hair to people not believing in it, but it's cheap insurance

Any recs on plugs or just get them from the stealership??

40k miles on an ‘18 SQ5? Impressive. How’d you manage that?

Mainly just driving haha. Jk
Yea it a good bit o miles. I'm in the mid-upper 30s, just trying to get everything together for a service in a few weeks. Been doin around 500 a week as of recently

Lifetime as in the lifetime of the warranty period.
I know BMW doesn't want to do this service as they claim it is lifetime also.

Chawski 02-27-2019 03:53 PM

Yea I'm not interested in seeing the cost of a new transmission. I'll do it with my 70k service

Gonna do oil and plugs this weekend hopefully. Dropping off tomorrow for some minor warranty things and hope to have it back before the weekend
