Done both these things, both are a-ok. No idea what the hell is going on. Making it even stranger is my wife is now 12.1 and still working.

Squirrel, just keep persevering and trying things out. As a Squirrel, you have faced tougher challenges, like the constant threat of becoming roadkill, and the famous acorn famine of '99... Seriously though, I've gone through periods of glitches with CarPlay, and it has always worked itself out. Like a lot of the tech in our Audi's, this can be a bit fickle. Disconnect and reconnect your iPhone with the car. Reset your Audi MMI. Reset your iPhone. Check the Audi connection manager. It should come back at some point. Good luck.

'99 was a great year for me. I had managed to bank a lot of acorns that year, so I was single with a tree full of nuts. Then I got the gig on the front of the Skippy peanut jar and I was FAMOUS. All the ladies knew me. "A lot of tail" took on a whole new meaning to me. Life was good.

You make a great point. I shall persevere. Not to be Al Bundy, but here's a pic of me in my glory days.

Ok, so I finally got this fixed. After deleting and re-deleting my phone 4 or 5 times, I finally went in and completely re-set the phone settings back to factory and started again. Voila! I have CarPlay again.
I dont think its the greatest system, but its better than NOT having it.

Non-Apple cables are often to blame when iOS gets updated. How else are they going to charge $20 for a $3 cable?

Too true. I was using an authentic cable, and it worked for my wife, but troubleshoot 101 says check your cables so I swapped it out.
Something got set weird somehow, cos apparently the factory reset undid it.
