Default Audi Q5 lease

Any one lease your 2019 q5?
If so, do you guys do the MSDs? My dealer told me it is not a good option for Audi. And I want to make sure.

I always do MSDs on my Audi leases. Did your dealer give you a reason not to?

A lease has a money factor, which is basically and interest rate. MSD simply means you don't have to pay interest on the amount of the MSD. So it's easy to decide if it's a "good deal" or not. If the money used for MSD can be used somewhere else to "earn/save" you more more money than MSD then yes....MSD would be bad (for YOU!). If the opposite is true then MSD would be good (for YOU!). There is no blanket good/bad aspect to MSD, every customer's financial situation is different. Kinda of a dumb answer by your dealer.

If you are trying to shave monthly payments, MSD is generally better idea than paying cap reduction.

You get 0.00005 money factor reduction for each SD. So the math is really easy to do if you are wondering if it is worth it.

Dealers is only telling you "not a good option" for two reasons:
1. They don't want you to do the math... this is a red flag to me because it probably means they've marked up your money factor.
2. Because they don't want to deal with the paperwork. It's much easier for them if you just pay a cap reduction.

Thanks guys.
I am using a bmw x4 and I got msds to bring down the monthly.
First audi lease for us and want to learn from the fellow forum members.
If my math is correct, 10 msds (8000) will save us 1700 over 36m.

I'm not sure where AFS caps the MSD... if they let you do 10x that is a pretty significant reduction in money factor.

BMWFS caps it at 7x MSD.

AFS has been doing MSD only for about 2 years so the dealers are still fairly new to the MSD game. BMW dealers all know the drill.
