Default BlueTooth (2) iPhones

How does the car recognize which phone to use for a call if my wife and my iPhones are synced and we are both in the car? I’ve never been able to figure this out. Thanks!

You will have a primary phone displayed with the other phone the secondary one, each phone can be switched around to display on the MMI to access your phone book or media files. When a call comes in which ever phone is getting that call the bluetooth with treat that phone as the primary source and the other will move down the pecking order line. If a call comes to the secondary phone while you are on the primary phone you have the option of answering and having the first call on hold.
But it won't let you call your wife's phone if you are both sitting in the vehicle next to each other.

Handy feature if you are carrying a work and personal phone.
