My experience is that the shipping time can be a big variable and there is no dealer tracking once released for shipping. With mine it took over 3 weeks after release although the dealer received others released at the same time in 2. To get an update on mine the dealer had to call Audi and they contacted the trucking company and they made contact with the driver to get an update. At least that’s the way I remember it. I thought the serial Number was assigned at completion of production.

After reading this thread, I asked our salesman to sign us up for Audi Owners Communication, which he did. I got an email from Audi saying the car had gone into production and "I’ll contact you again when your vehicle is in transit ." This all happened 2 days before the scheduled production date. Am I understanding correctly that the car is currently being built and the only additional information we get is when is leaves the factory? I know this seems like a silly question, but we ordered the car in early November and I'm ready to have it. I wish there was a clear tracking system for those of us who like to watch the progression.

correct - lead time for factory builds is anywhere from 12-16 weeks on average

Any other updates, that is what your salesperson should be providing

My ABS confirmed that car was released to the carrier on 01/15. Current ETA at the dealership is 02/05 to 02/10. Hopefully it gets here before that

I received COMM # RE4549 from my dealer last Saturday on my new SQ5 order. How long before an ETA usually shows up?

Thanks for the heads up that this exists. After poking around, I've also seen it called "owner in waiting program." I will email my dealer rep and see if I can get enrolled.

Could you check #QR1933? Seems like it should have made it to Houston by now. Thank you!
